The return of Hawaiian Shirts

Turning throwback Thursday into throwback trends for a quick shout out to a 90’s favourite. Interestingly, most of the trends, this year, have been about the reinterpretation of the 90’s style like dad sneakers, fanny packs, and biker shorts. And now, another one joins the list that is Hawaiian shirts. While growing up, they might have been known us as being parent-friendly styles but, now, they have gotten a major uphaul and turned much chicer.

Hawaiian shirts, for instance, have managed to overcome the usual touristy vibe while keeping up with their vibrant, kitsch vibe and making sure to remind us of our favourite beach vacations. Like, Gucci’s Hawaiian print silks shirt or & Other Stories map print button down.

The easiest way to wear this shirt is in its truest habitat i.e. pair them with a bralette and denim shorts or use as an overlay over your swimsuit and add anything straw for brownie points. But if you want to take it up a notch, then get yourself a Hawaiian print co-ord set and some gold hoops or shell jewellery for extra glam. For a casual-cool vibe, team your tropical-inspired shirt with a pair of relaxed denim and Crayola bright sort of coloured mules.

From being a sartorial offender to being a symbol of sartorial fun, Hawaiian shirts have come a long way. So, go ahead and give your wardrobe a dose of tropical treatment.
